“embrace independence & love life” -Human Touch, OT
Welcome to my website, Human Touch, OT.
My name is Stephanie and I live on the East Coast with my husband, Chris and two precious Golden Retrievers, Shiloh & Shenandoah! I get the most of my days and life with a simple motto: “embrace independence & love life.” To do so, I modify, adapt, and refine living skills at home and on the go!
Given my life-experiences and “know-how” garnered as an Occupational Therapist and Educator, I practice purposeful activities and make ridiculously easy changes to life skills that protect joints, simplify work, and conserve energy. I say, “embrace independence and love life.” It’s the cause & effect relationship the “human touch” adds to healthful living.
I think, “nothing keeps me sidelined,” to include my pesky arthritis. So, to stay in the “game-of-life” I’ve had to think outside the box. In doing so, I’ve managed to do more, see more, and be more. Is there something keeping you benched? If so, my aspiration is that you’ll also love life to the fullest and perhaps even gain a little pearl-of-wisdom somewhere in my writings.
This website is intended for laypeople, educators, and occupational therapists alike to rekindle, inspire and generate ideas for improved function in independent living skills. This website is outlined with five major categories to include joint protection, energy conservation, work simplification, purposeful activities, and adaptations.
You will also notice a “sixth category” which is a special feature section dedicated to my personal beliefs and convictions of the human-animal bond and how it has touched, shaped, and influenced my life, hence, the human-animal touch.
A designated webpage for each category is laid out with definitions and examples. Each blog post is designed with an emphasis in one of these five categories. I hope these ideas bring more ease, more comfort, and more joy into your daily living. Please read and agree to disclaimers before accessing this website.
Thank you for visiting my website, enjoy, and “embrace independence and love ❤️ life.”
